#BackFatSunday: Still Hella Sexy

On Sundays I try to post a “Back Fat Sunday” post on my Instagram. I found this meme some months ago, in the Fall of 2019, if I remember correctly. I don’t post about it every Sunday, of course, but it’s fun when I can.

The major thing for me has been to contribute in my small way to fat representation in social media. Sometimes the photos I take are a bit more polished. Hair straightened. Makeup done. Edited and filtered. But not always. (For a somewhat less edited, similar, photo check this one on my Instagram.)

Things aren’t always shiny and perfect. Sometimes they’re messy. Bodies are messy. Emotions are messy. Emotions about our bodies can be very messy. It’s important to at least occasionally show these rougher sides of ourselves, especially on social media. Or, if we’re not comfortable, to acknowledge them, and to remember that it’s not always sunshiny-perfect for everyone all the time.

Even in that less-than-perfect mess, we can still be hella sexy.
