Top 7 Sexy Holiday Picks (2014)
There are tons of amazing toys out there. There are also really crappy ones. At the end of December I’ll have been reviewing toys for a year! Can you believe it? Time just flies on by. In this past year I’ve reviewed 20 toys. Not too shabby, if I do say so myself!
This holiday guide is just a small compilation of items that I think are pretty darned awesome and will stand the test of time. Included in this list are a combo of items with lower price points as well as bigger ticket items. I’m mentioning things that 1)have really stood out to me over the past year, 2) that I use with a fair bit of consistency, and 3) are things I’ve tried. I’m not talking about items I haven’t actually used. They may not necessarily be the newest, or most “innovative,” but I love these and I think you will, too. The toy name links to my review (if I have one).
If you have enjoyed reading my writing and reviews (and if you want more in the new year!) I invite you to please clear your cookies before clicking my links. When you purchase through the links I’ve provided you’re supporting the work I do as well as some really great companies that I believe in and all of this at no extra cost to you!
Vibrators
Officially my favorite clitoral vibrator. The new We-Vibe Touch is made of silky smooth matte silicone, the rumbly vibrations. It’s rechargeable. It’s easy to clean and care for. It’s so perfect. The only thing that might make it more perfect (this is so trivial) is if it came in other colors, too.
From Good Vibrations ($99), SheVibe ($99.99), and Peepshow Toys ($99)
The Magic Wand Original
Yeah, the Magic Wand has the two settings – high and higher, but it’s a great implement which can be used on your sore back once you’re done getting off with it. It’s like a jackhammer between your legs, but it can be great over your clothing for a quickie, and the sensations can be dampened a bit by folding a towel between it and the body. I believe it is a must have in any toy box.
From Good Vibrations ($54.95), SheVibe ($59.95), and Peepshow Toys ($ 54.95)
[Bonus: The G-spotter Pop Top for the Magic Wand]
Dildos
Slim and unassuming, Sport seems like a simple silicone dildo. It is a fantastic G-spotting toy, great for warming up and as an end unto itself. The teardrop shape is helpful for orienting it in the direction you want it to go. It also comes in a longer version.
From Tantus ($42)
Stout, girthy, and made of dual density silicone, Mikey is perfect if you just want a feeling of fullness without much texture. It’s one of my favorites.
From Tantus ($106.71)
Beautiful glass. The Icicles No.5 is evenly textured and amazing for targeting the G-spot. It holds temperature nicely. And look how gorgeous it is: It’s like an erotic art piece.
From Peepshow Toys ($ 23)
Lube
Sliquid
Body-safe. A huge range of varieties including “standard” water-based and silicone as well as organics and flavored (which are actually delicious and still body-safe and condom compatible). Their hybrid, Silk, is my all-time favorite. And I tend to use Sassy when I need water-based. (Made with anal in mind, Sassy is water-based, but more cushion-y, almost gel-like.)
Good Vibrations, Peepshow Toys, SheVibe, Tantus
(Prices for Sliquid lube ranges from about $1.25 for 5 ml sample packs up to $21 for the larger 8.5 oz.)
Please Lube
Body-safe, and so sensual. Please lubes are still pretty new to me. I’ve only known about them for a year or so. My two favorites are Please Cream (water-based with a hint of silicone) and Silicone (super slick and long lasting).
(Prices for Please lube ranges from $1 for 5 ml sample packs up to $30 for 8 0z.)
[Keep in mind that the items I mentioned above are pretty gender neutral. I reference the G-spot, but the insertable toys are great for prostate stimulation, too! And of course, vibrators and lube can also be used regardless of gender or body parts!]
Of course if none of this tickles your fancy, or you already have what you want from this list, peruse my review index for all the products I have tried out. Also, Good Vibrations has a handy holiday gift guide you might find useful.
If you want something edgy or kinky, take a look at the Stockroom. They have tons of leather and latex; corsets, restraints, floggers, CBT implements, and lots more.
If you’re giving a gift, you can’t go wrong with a gift card from any of the above.
Keep an eye on my sales page as there may be relevant deals while you go about your holiday shopping (and after the holidays, too!). I update this pretty consistently as stores update their promotions.
I love Sliquid Silk too!
It’s been one of my faves for a few years now!
