Flowing in Rivulets

I woke up this morning to a very heavy menstrual flow. I have been menstruation (with varying amounts of regularity) for twenty-three years. I’ve had periods for two-thirds of my life and I never experienced what I did this morning.
On the one hand, it was a little scary, and very messy, on the other hand, it had me in awe of the power of the human body. Taking that idea of “getting rid of what no longer serves me” very literally.
