Review: Stockroom’s Full Curves Black Leather Harness

In the same way that not all sex toys – insertables, vibrators, etc. – will work for everyone, BDSM gear and fetishwear will not work for everyone. With that in mind, there is an interesting intersection or overlap with gear in how it is essentially clothing. Some items will be adjustable. Others won’t be.

It’s important to see more options for plus-size, fat, and larger bodies. We want to feel sexy and show off our kinky sides, too! And, let’s face it the average size of “women” in the US now is a 16-18, which means that there are many on the higher end of that spectrum. Because of how fat is distributed differently among people of size, I’m sure that it can be difficult to create gear that will work for many or most people, but we have to start somewhere. (Also, it probably couldn’t hurt to find a handful of differently sized and shaped folks to bring in to be fit models?)

For reference, I wear clothing anywhere between a 2X to a 4X (around a 24) depending on how snug I want my clothing to fit. My bra size is about a 44H. I am quite busty and have a belly. With that in mind, let’s dive right into my thoughts on Stockroom’s Full Curves Bust Harness. 

Collar

My main complaint with this harness is with the collar. I found it to be uncomfortable, particularly when looking down (like looking at my phone) or tilting my head down. In that respect it functioned as more of a posture collar, which is great if that is something you are looking for. In general, I’m not one for posture collars, and certainly not unintentionally.

Because of how my neck/chin fat is distributed, it was a bit uncomfortable. After an hour or so of wearing it at an event, I had help adjusting the collar as well as the sternum strap and found it to be more comfortable, but not 100%. If it had been a little shorter (and I mean along the neck, not the belt) I think it would be more comfy. I am also keeping in mind that with time and wear the leather will soften.

Underbust

The strap that goes around the underbust is quite comfortable and I found it to be pretty sturdy. I had it hooked on the last notch. If I wanted it a little more snug, I might be able to get it in one more. (If I hadn’t had a bra on and a shirt, more than likely it could be cinched more snugly.)

I decided that hooking it in front and then maneuvering it to the back – sort of like how I might hook my bra – was the easiest method of getting into the harness. (Fastening up the collar last.) Had the strap been a couple inches longer with a few more notches, it would be even more versatile, particularly for bodies larger than mine. 

Sternum/Vertical Strap

The vertical strap is great. Not only is it incredibly sexy, I found it to be very versatile. Again, while I don’t anticipate that it will work for every body, it does seem to have a decent adjustable range depending on how long someone’s torso is. I could see it being even more erotic if one were wearing the harness sans clothing. It makes for a great handle, too, for a partner or dominant to bring you in close.

When I first was looking over the product page, specifically the size chart, I was a little confused. I had originally understood it as there being four separate sizes of this harness. That is not the case. There is (at this time) one harness which can be adjusted to fit sizes 1X to 4X.

Future Wishes?

I absolutely appreciate this piece and look forward to more plus-size gear from the Stockroom. They’re definitely off to a good start! Even more, I would love to see items that have the range for larger bodies than mine. Real leather and vegan options would be stellar, as well as adding a bit of color! The piece that originally drew me to this style more than two years ago was the Hot Pink Neon Harness they came out with. I’m a big fan of hot pink, as you might be able to surmise, but other colors would be awesome, too! (I’ll put my vote in now for a teal/turquoise.)

Final Thoughts

Overall, this harness feels incredibly sturdy. I never felt like it was straining around me. The D-Rings are incredibly handy for bondage, or even simply a partner hooking their finger through to bring you in for a kiss or a stern talking to. 

At the time of this review, the Full Curves Leather Bust Harness is listed at $108 at the Stockroom. They offer FREE shipping on orders of $99 or more. This is roughly on par with similar styles of leather harnesses. It’s a fabulous investment into your fetishwear and bondage gear, and potentially into intro puppy or pony play. If you’re super bold in your fashion, it could totally be added to non-kink specific outfits and turn all the heads in the room.

I’m excited to have received this harness. It’s the first one I’ve ever had and on the whole I would say it’s been a great experience so far. The compliments I’ve received have been so sweet and validating. I feel super sexy wearing it and I want to wear it more often. It will probably take some amount of wear to be fully broken in and to soften, but that will come with time. I just have to find more reasons and occasions to wear it!
