Review: Funkit Toys Crista Swell
This is a long overdue review, but here we go!
As in some of my more recent reviews, I don’t tend to use insertable toys in my typical self-pleasure sessions, but that makes this review of the Funkit Crista Swell relevant.
In the past I have been into toys that are leaning toward the intermediate-to-large end of the spectrum. I know that my eyes are bigger than my holes, especially when it comes to booty play. Still, I have a place in my heart for these sorts of toys. But because I haven’t been actively doing much penetrative play, the Crista Swell is a pretty great option as a warm up or beginner toy. Each time I’ve used the Crista Swell, however, it’s left me wanting more. It definitely gets me warmed up, but I don’t feel satiated with it.
That said, I love the glossy silicone and the shape of this toy. With just a little bit of water-based lubes, it glides easily with each thrust. The slight ridge on the head scrapes past my g-spot just enough to make me notice. I would be very interested in trying this same shape in a larger version.
The firmness of the silicone is just right in my opinion; it’s not anything squishy like a dual density, but it does have a little bit of give.
Visually, I love the look of the translucent silicone – it’s not a look I see all that often in body-safe toys. I adore the rainbow swirl. I also like the idea of having a slightly different version of this design because of the differences that occur in handmade items. Side note: it would be cool to see comparisons of each one.
A note about the shape, as well. The Crista Swell is on the smaller side of the spectrum. The silicone is smooth, with almost no texture. The shape itself varies. The thickest part is toward the middle of the shaft and it is tapered toward the base. Here are some of the specs as taken from the SheVibe website:
- Insertable Length: 5 1/4″
- Widest Point: 1 1/2″
- Base: 2″
It’s fairly simple to keep it clean. Just soap and warm water are fine, being sure to pay extra attention to the etched branded lettering on the base as gunk may get trapped in there. If you need a more intense clean, or are sharing the toy, you can boil it or throw it into the top rack of the dishwasher. Stick to water-based lubes with Crista.
In addition, the base of the Crista Swell, along with other Funkit dils – is very different from any toy base that I’ve ever experienced previously or seen anywhere. The sides, or flaps, can fold down to become a small handle of sorts. Cool! The base also is a suction cup. I personally don’t make use of that feature but it’s there.
At the time of this review, the Crista Swell was listed at $94 at SheVibe. It’s on the pricier end of the spectrum, but you have to take into account that they are made in smaller batches, with high quality, body-safe materials. The uniqueness of the toys – no two will be exactly alike – should be taken into account as well.
