Review: Rocks-Off RO-Jira Vibrator

As of November 22, 2018 it appears that the RO-Jira is discontinued.

I had some mixed feelings going into this review. I’ve been very loyal to a small handful of vibrators over the past few years. Naturally, I’m always skeptical when I receive a new one. This is totally different that a dildo review. Or even a dildo that can take a bullet vibe.

In my typical, masturbatory sessions, I mainly use a vibe on my clit and that’s about all. I don’t tend to reach for insertables unless I’m making a bit more of an effort. And in general, I don’t need my insertables to vibrate. I’m much more interested in girth for a full feeling, length if I want more A-Spot stimulation, and the pressure and rhythm incorporated therein.

So on the rare occasion that I have received a vibrating (insertable) toy for review, it’s pretty exciting to come out of the many trials with it on a positive note. The Rocks-Off RO-Jira might even make it into my regular vibrator rotation. Yes, I’m surprised, too. One of the issues I have with RO-Jira is that although the first three settings are the steady ones, they aren’t in order from low to medium to high; they’re reversed which doesn’t make much sense, particularly since I really like the lowest steady setting.

Rocks-Off RO-JiraI’ve had some really awesome, strong orgasms using RO-Jira. Like, intense, deep orgasms. I mainly use it as a clit vibe, so the broad tip is able to stimulate my clit and the underlying structures better than a more pinpointed vibe might do. Sometimes I’ll use it for vaginal penetration, but more to just tease my entire vulva and vaginal opening. I had a little bit of trouble with insertion (not really surprising considering the girth of this vibe). But a bit of time, patience, and plenty of lube make it worth it.

Oh! And it’s got this very subtle twist; it’s not super jarring. So if you’re newer to texture, this shouldn’t be overwhelming, but it adds a bit of intrigue. Penetration with a little swivel, turn, or twist. Yum.

What’s even more surprising is that RO-Jira leans toward the buzzier side of the spectrum – a sensation I don’t usually prefer. I’m a much bigger fan of rumbly vibrations. Somehow, the buzzy quality doesn’t bother me as it has in other vibrators, probably because its tip is broader rather than more pinpointed and can diffuse the sensations. All in all, this is a powerful toy.

The tip heats up quite a bit with use; not alarmingly hot and it’s not unpleasant, but it’s noticeable. Also, the vibrations really are throughout the length of the toy. That can be a pro or a con depending on what you’re using RO-Jira for. For just clitoral stim, it’s a bit tiresome, but if you’re going for vaginal penetration, and you want lots of vibration, it may be a good thing.

Specs & Cleaning RO-Jira

RO-Jira comes in pink or black (Good Vibes seems to have only pink in stock). It is covered in soft platinum grade body safe silicone. It is rechargeable and the USB charging cord is nearly 5 ft. long. I ran the battery on steady-high, not 100% fully charged, because I’d used it before a time or two. At about 4 and a half hours, I started to think it was possessed. It finally stopped at around 4 hours and 46 minutes. That is a serious battery.

There are 10 vibration settings: Steady High, Medium, Low, Slow Pulsing, Quicker Pulsing, Faster Pulsing, 7-10 are a variety of patterns that are too challenging to describe, but they are all distinct and different. RO-Jira is operated with one button (it’s the Rocks-Off logo) at the charging end. How loud is RO-Jira? Well, it’s definitely not quiet. But, I left buzzing (several times in that 4+ hours, actually) and whenever I left my bedroom, I couldn’t hear it. Make of that what you will.

RO-Jira measures about 7 ¼” in total length with a circumference of about 5 ¾” at its widest part. Not recommended for anal play because there is no flared base.

RO-Jira is a matte silicone (not too much of a lint magnet), so I would say stick with a water based or hybrid lube. Cleaning should be pretty easy. I just washed it off with warm water and soap. You can also use toy cleaner if you have it. Do not boil it (obviously); you’ll fry the motor. Also RO-Jira is waterproof so you can take it in the tub if you so choose!

RO-Jira is currently listed at $90 at Good Vibrations. For the length of the charge, it being a lovely matte silicone, waterproof, and the amount of vibration settings, I think this is well worth the price. Good Vibes also offers free shipping on orders over $69.

Huge thanks to the folks at Rocks-Off for sending me RO-Jira to try out!
