Review: Meteorite Plug

TANTUS Meteorite Plug

When I got that huge bundle of toys from Tantus a few months ago, I was pretty stoked to see a butt plug. I’ve owned a few butt plugs over the years. And even way back in my late teens/early twenties when I randomly purchased a butt plug (Ok, I’m sure there was thought put into it at the time) it was by Tantus. I think it’s both wonderful and amusing that just about all of the butt plugs I’ve ever owned have been theirs. That just goes to show how amazing these toys are. It’s true, I’ve rotated them out, and haven’t used them in ages, but I’m sure if I dug them up and washed them, they’d still be in great shape.

Here’s the Thing…

So the thing about reviewing sex toys is that I’m still human. I have to want to stick things in my body or vibrate my bits. And to complicate that further, I don’t do a lot of butt stuff in my general masturbatory sessions. I’m not averse to it by any means, and it’s something I enjoy with a knowledgeable partner, but it isn’t a priority for me on the daily. Well, I finally pulled up my big girl panties (or I guess, pulled them down, in this case) and looked the Meteorite plug straight in the eye, or where its eyes would be, and said you’re going in my butt today. (Ok, I never actually said any of this, but it was my sentiment.) Tantus Meteorite Butt Plug

My Experience

I thought it would be a good idea to get a little warmed up first. So I used a vibe on my clit for a couple minutes before going for the Meteorite. It’s a silicone toy, so I used a water based lube with it. It’s longer than any other anal toy I’ve ever used, which was helpful in terms of reach. (I’ve got a bit of a belly these days.) It’s much narrower than any other butt plugs I’ve played with in the past. The silicone is  pretty flexible which is mostly a good thing. It can be challenging to use a toy anally that’s too firm, but if it’s too flexible, that can also be a problem. I didn’t think it was too difficult to insert. It’s not a thick, formidable toy. Depending on one’s experience with anal play, you may need more or less warm up. Always remember lube when attempting anal play. I had no issues at all sliding it in. I did, however, find it a bit challenging to keep it in.

Yeah, that was not what I was expecting. At all. But I learned a lot about my body and butt plugs reviewing this toy. The Meteorite is slim and gradual. Which may be perfect for folks who might not have a ton of experience with plugs, or for those who are doing a bit more with penetrative play, moving it in and out. My intentions were to slide it in and leave it there.

The neck of the plug isn’t much slimmer than the widest part, which was probably why I had some trouble, at least at first, keeping it in. My sphincters didn’t have much to hold on to. (That’s a sentence I don’t think I ever expected to write for public readership!)

Once I got it in with enough confidence that it wouldn’t shoot out of me (more or less, anyway) I went back to using the vibe on my clit. So the amazing thing about the Meteorite, and butt plugs in general, it might be obvious, but it deserves stating here: it made me very aware of my anus.

The closer I was to orgasm, the more contractions my body made naturally, and having the Meteorite in just magnified all of those delicious sensations. Then I had my orgasm and my body expelled the plug which is slightly embarrassing but also mostly hilarious.

I found that reinsertion following my orgasm allowed it to stay in better. The constriction of my PC and sphincter muscles following orgasm made it easier to hold on to the plug. But a second orgasm and the dang thing shot out of me again. I don’t think this happens to me with toys that have a bigger disparity between the thickest part and the neck.

So in all, for me, I think the Meteorite plug is a toy I might use to warm up with a partner, perhaps before we move on to other penetrative anal play. But I wouldn’t say it’s going to make it into my plug rotation with any sort of regularity.

Specs

Made of somewhat matte silicone, the Meteorite has about 4.5 insertable inches with a total length of 5 inches. It ranges in thickness from 1.25″ around at the tip, gradually increases to 3.25″ at its widest, and back down to 2.75″ thick in the neck. It does collect some dust, just make sure to rinse it before use. In terms of care, it’s high quality silicone you’d expect from Tantus, so you can easily just wash it with soap and warm water, but it’s also boilable and dishwasher-safe (on the top rack), and you can use a 10% bleach solution if you are feeling extra diligent.Tantus Meteorite Butt Plug Note that because the Meteorite is handmade (as are the other products in the Space Toys line), the colors may not be exactly the same as in my photos. It is a nice change of pace from the usual black, purple, and blue that usually color anal toys. This is bright and colorful! And the blending between each color block lend a lovely sort of ombre quality that is rather unique. The base has a lovely sparkly thing going, which is just pretty.

Shoots out upon orgasm, hmmm. The name “Meteorite” seems more ironic and less space-age cool than it did a few minutes ago.

It’s probably too small and smooth to stay put.. But it would work just as well as a warm up. I love the colors, reminds me of summer!
