Review: Pride Rainbow Dildo

Pride Rainbow 2013 G-Spot Silicone Dildo by BS

First of all…

I just have to first acknowledge how beautiful this toy is. I can’t say I’ve ever seen anything like it before. As a sucker for rainbows, I was all over it, but it was definitely a challenge choosing a “theme” to test out. I’m sure they all feel the same, but BS makes some of the most gorgeous, unique dildos I have ever seen. Have you ever wanted your dildo to look like a racing car? Or like a Holstein cow? Well, they exist!

My Experiences

The Pride Rainbow dildo came in a clear zipper baggie – very minimalist. It is also pretty eco-friendly because the bag can be reused and it’s not wasting a ton of cardboard, boxes, and other packaging. I liked that it was clear so as to show right away what I was getting. The description on the package, as well as the included instructions, are in Spanish and English. I was a little dismayed to note that the grammar could have been a bit better on the English side of things. But all in all it didn’t detract from the upcoming experience.

Front and back of the package

Until recently my masturbatory focus didn’t include a lot of penetration. It’s not that I am averse to it: I love it! Penetration is just not usually at the top of my list. There are studies that state that at least 75% of people with vulvas do not orgasm from penetration alone. I definitely fall into that category. Because of this, I mainly used the BS Rainbow Pride dildo along with a clitoral vibrator. I am also a person who, while in tune with what feels good internally (read: against my g-spot), does not have ejaculatory, or g-spot orgasms (at this time).

That being said, I spent time experimenting “around the clock” – to see how it feels in the 12, 3, 6, & 9 o’clock positions. [With 12 being upward gliding over my uretheral sponge (g-spot); and 9 being a 180° spin, facing downward and pressing against my perineal sponge.] Having used the Pride Rainbow several times, the curved head felt really good to me in all four directions, particularly when thrusting at the g-spot and perineal sponge.

Different angles of the Pride Rainbow

The silicone is  smooth and luxurious. There are no bumps or ridges to distract from the angle of the tip. I found that it (comfortably) hooked under my pubic bone splendidly. My orgasms around it were great, very filling. It is a great toy if you don’t need a ton of girth or length. The shaft does widen gradually toward the flared base.

My main complaint is that the circular base is not every ergonomic. It is a little bit challenging to get a grip on the base. I think because the shaft gradually thickens it takes away a little bit from where I would rest my thumb to grip so I can thrust. All that was a lot of words to also say that it is also harness compatible, and in that case this shouldn’t be a problem.

Specs

Similar dildos by BS is Nice range in sizes from “small” to “large.” The Pride Rainbow I received is a “medium.” (Kind of a “Goldilocks” scenario.) It is 6.5″ in total length, about 6.3″ insertable. Because its thickness is gradual, the Pride Rainbow is almost 3″ in diameter at the widest part toward the base; about 2.5″ in the middle and 1¾” at the widest part of the tip. It is made of firm, but not rigid, 100% silicone. They are said to be artisan made (in Madrid!), so each dildo may look slightly different.

It was a bit of a lint magnet, but that is easily remedied by washing it before use. For simple clean up, warm water and soap is fine. It is dishwasher safe, boilable, and can also be disinfected with a 10% bleach solution if you are being extra thorough or you’re sharing it with another person.

It’s got the flared base, so it’s anal safe. (The angled head would be great for prostate stimulation.) And it is harness compatible.

The dildo came with a little lube packet, but I didn’t pay much attention to it. I would recommend sticking to a water-based lube with the Pride Rainbow. It is your safest bet and makes for a quick clean up. Some sex educators say it’s okay to use silicone lube  on silicone toys (there have been huge debates about this). If you do, test out a tiny bit on the base out of view and monitor the way it reacts. If there is no change, it will probably be okay, but it starts to get gooey or tacky rinse that off ASAP and you know that’s not a good way to go.

Huge thanks to SheVibe for giving me a chance to try out the Pride Rainbow 2013 G-Spot Silicone Dildo by BS!  It is a gorgeous piece that I want to show off!

This was my birthday present to myself last year! Money well spent, for sure. My partner loves it almost more than I do. It really is great for anal, the first time he used it, he fell in love. Before this, I was never much for penetrative masturbation either, but now I use it all. the. time.

It sure looks nice with those stripes! Maybe I get one myself some day, hopefully it is just as good for anal play 🙂
